LivesArchived is sharing some of our #FourthOfJuly memories to show all the stories that can surround one day. Whether you’re at the beach or just cooking out home– there’s plenty of stories to share.
Photographs from holidays are great pictures to archive because they often bring you back to a specific moment in time. The Fourth of July is always a time when my family gets together no matter how far away we are– some of these pictures we were at the beach because everyone was always off that week. To see more of my family’s archive go here.
My younger brother used to march with Kutztown’s band every year to the local cemetery to honor veterans and share some patriotic music. He got to carry the flag because he plays upright bass (which isn’t exactly fit for a marching band).
Kathy Hunt also contributed some photographs of her family’s Fourth of July adventures. She has been archiving for her family history here.
The Fourth of July is also a great time to think about each of our diverse heritages. This image from Ellis Island highlights the uniqueness of every American.
Everyone has fond memories of fireworks they’d love to share– each time we see them it’s a different experience with different people coming together to celebrate. I remember getting to watch the fireworks at Fleetwood park right over the big lake. One year I saw fireworks over the ocean at New Jersey.
The Fourth is also always a great time to gather with friends and share good food.
What kind of stories do you remember around The Fourth of July? Do you go camping? Roast marshmallows? Catch Fireflies? You can save your own family memories forever at LivesArchived.
